I'm not a drag racer, but I've played with these early cars for a long time. For what you want to do, a stiffer rear gear will help. You could install a shorter rear tire to augment this, as well. 3.36 is a great street gear, but for 1/8 mile, you'd do better with a 3.90 gear set. A 3.55 would help, too, though not as much. Is your car hooking right now? Chassis tuning is the main element here, as you need to hook up and launch, not spin. Old schoolers eliminated the front sway bar and installed looser shocks (90-10's) to allow the front end to rise easier to transfer the weight. Additionally, a trunk mounted battery and a tuned rear suspension can help. Air Lift drag bags work well, if plumbed separately, with something like 6 psi in the driver's side bag, and 12 psi in the passenger side bag. As you know, it takes a lot of experimenting and tweaking. Good luck.
