    He was part of coastal command. He started flying on D-day but not in the invasion. The U-boat threat was greatly diminished by then. Thank god! They would fly so low to the deck the planes could easily catch a wave and ditch and be under the waves before you could say "Bob's your uncle".

    Chasing u boats was a very important mission, there is one that was sunk during the war just off the Carolina coast that I did a dive off of several years back, a lot of people don't realize how much the ****s were just off the coast during the war.

    My dad was in the Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in WW II, flying a bomber plane chasing U-boats.
