    Paul,
Thanks for the responses that you've given so far on the potential build for my 67 GP 400.
I'd like to get the Q-jet intake that you've got. Let me know how you prefer payment.
I started reading about carbs and it seems that the Q-jets that were being replaced with Holleys in the 70s are now sought after. I've read Cliff Ruggle's comments that his shop doesn't want to deal with the poorer shelf rebuilts anymore. Not sure what to look for and what to avoid when considering a good candidate carb to get. I'll wait for your guidance on what to look for.
Again, what I've got is a stock 1967 400, 4 barrel non-Q-Jet intake, 670 heads, TH400 with a variable pitch torque converter with a high stall of 2400 rpm, 3.08 posi rear end, and 28" tall tires. I'd like to keep the transmission and rear end the way they are now.
The car has vacuum operated headlights and power brakes.
I have no idea where to begin to start on coming up with a recipe for a build. I'd like the engine to be and look as factory looking as possible. I'd like to use the 670 heads on the build.

Let me know what you think when you get a chance to consider this. And thanks again for your input so far.

Paul, thanks for your input on my 400. After looking at your comments concerning replacing the rods, now thinking about the crank too. Maybe I should consider a stroker kit? I like your advice and will let you know how things progress. Thanks Again! ---Bob

Paul, l enjoy reading your posts too. I need some advice on my new engine build. I have a 70 WT short block 30 over (never fired) with questionable pistons (8 relief notched)and am looking for a nice street motor with a noticeable lump at idle. It will go in my GTO in front of a Legends 5 speed and stock 3:55 rear. I was thinking E-heads with a Lunatti cam and possibly going in the direction of fuel injection.
Any Advice or ideas? Thanks for your time.

Paul, I enjoy reading your posts and have learned quite a bit from what you've posted. I need some advice on my new engine build. I'm trying to pick the right cam. It sounds like you like the voodoo series. I'm trying to decide between HFT or HR. I posted in the street section and got a few replies. Cliff suggested the Crower 60240 or thought the voodoo 10510702 would work as well. I'm still toying with the idea of a voodoo hydraulic roller 20510710. Here's my combo so far.

This is for a 64 Lemans convertible, it will be a street only cruiser, driven to work a few days a week on the interstate, local cruises/car shows. 2.93 posi, M20, Pypes 2.5, R/A manifolds, 65 Tri-power, power brakes, full roller rockers (ratio depends on what you recommend, I have 1.5s now). I want the engine to be all done by 5500 RPM and run on 89. We have 91 octane here now but...

I just bought a fresh never fired 75 400. +.040 TRW, XE262, recon stock rods w/ARP bolts, balanced, pistons are .015 in the hole. It has fresh 6X-8 with no port work, stainless valves 1.77 exh.

I plan to ditch the 6X-8 and use my other fresh 6X-4's, they have some heavy bowl work done and are gasket matched, with 995 springs and stainless valves. I plan to disassemble the engine and have the block decked and squared to about .005 down in the hole. I plan to mill the heads to achieve 9:1 static.

What cam would recommend for what I have and what I'm trying to build? Will the small roller make a big difference over either the XE262 or voodoo 60902? I already have the XE262 but it's new and I can sell it. Is there something better? Please help if have a minute. Thanks Dean 618 558 2132

Paul, I emailed you also about doing the work on our manifold. In spite of the mismatch of the ports and small flange sizes, we want to use Tripower and this is really the only manifold we could use. You can email me at bocoogto@charter.net or call or text 920-450-1040.

    Thanks,

How did the Tripower work on the aftermarket heads? Did performance meet your expectations or did you switch to a 4 bbl.? We REALLY want to stick with our plan for Tripower.

yes, they are like what you have except for rubber inside also so they lightly press onto the guide. I'm going to lunch right now, but call my cell phone[520-409-7236] in an hour and a half[2:15 pm AZ time[it's 12:44 now] and i can get a credit card number from you and send them out today.

    Paul,

I would like to get a set of 16 Viton valve seals for my Pontiac. As in the Valve seal thread, the heads are 6X and per the sheet from Jim Butler when the built the heads, the guides are .500. Are the ones you have the rubber inside the sleeve rather than just the rubber on top and a metal only sleeve?
