I don't think it will make a difference. I found my old flow control valve, spring and fitting. After some quick checking documents this is what I found. They do look the same on exterior but the main difference is the relief valve spring inside the flow control valve itself which from a K truck is set for 1400 psi while a regular original GTO one is set at about 900-950 psi. You need the flow control valve from the K truck.
There were 2 options for pumps for the k series. One with a Vacuum boost and one without. Not sure if that changes the valve and spring? I bought the one without vacuum boost/assist and the valve and spring looked the same. Headed back today to get the vacuum boost model to see if it's different.
Thanks for the help!
Hey Bill,
I'm doing the jeep steering conversion on my dad's gto. I bought a new pump, the insert adapters from Lee Manu, new hoses, getting a jeep box this week. I was wondering about the pressure control valve in the k series '76-'80 pumps. I bought a pump for a '77 k series from auto parts to get the control valve. I removed it and it looks identical to the one I pulled out of my pump. Do they look different? Thanks, Brent
