    Marty,

I know you fly for a living and drive fast cars on the side. I’m sure you have a good foundation on aerodynamics. I am no expert on aerodynamics, but I do have a bachelor's degree in aeronautical science from Embry Riddle.

Since Justin (Big Chief) recently put a “Wing” on “the Crow”, your old car, I am wondering if the design of that wing may be leaving something on the table, as far as aerodynamics go. (Induced drag reduction)

I believe any effective wing uses camber to create lift, in addition to angle of attack. In the case of a wing on a Top Fuel dragster, I suspect they have camber, to help push the wing down towards the ground. In other words they are an inverted wing with a fixed angle of attack to push down more as airspeed increases. If this is the case then I believe winglets should be incorporating into the wing design. Winglets are a proven design in reducing induced drag.

Is this something we can discuss? Or am I out in left field on this?

    Axel

Hello Marty. I've admired your turbo cars for years I've become friends with Jim Thompson. I was wondering if he has ever mentioned my twin turbo 400 (406) build to you? I would really appreciate any thoughts or comments on it from you if you wanted to. If you do not want to I completely understand. I know you are a private person and do not want invade your privacy. I'm retired and moved down here from Wisconsin to Glendale AZ. Thanks Marty. Mark Leischer.
