Agreed. I think your suggestion for a Performer is a good one. I like the dual pattern intake for the flexibility to run square or spreadbore carbs. And it saves your back if you pull it off.

Not sure how much you can tell from the design of those two parts. Electronics changed a LOT over the years, components got smaller, doesn't mean they got worse. Circuit traces may get smaller...
