It would probably work OK though?

It's rust. The heads are blasted with metal during the manufacturing process. Sometimes specs of metal are embedded in the aluminum and then rusts.

On a cage the frame has to be boxed where the bar meets the frame to pass tech and be certified. On a 6 point roll bar not needed but will help stiffen the frame.
