Grey's in the dash are all lighting and are all at some point or another connected to the rheostat on the headlight switch. That connector somewhat leads me to believe it's for the floor shift...

This is just a guess on my part.

The grays are usually dash lights, so maybe heater light or lighter light.
I'd say it's for the heater light.
Along with the orange wire, power to the lighter....

70 kit uses #10 classic white 5040 in the stripe trim
71-72 kit uses #11 antique white 5338 in the stripe trim

Being a 69 TA, possibly they had some engines set back for them and the VIN's weren't stamped until known which car it would go to?
