Finally get to see part of the book. Nice coverage of your car. Duncan stayed at my house twice while researching the book. Probably put on 100 miles driving him around Chicago. Still waiting for my free promo copy of the book.

I would like to see your 65 GTO sometime in person,Keith. I liked the 65 year the best. Maybe I'm crazy but some days I feel I could turnaround and be back in the 60s or 50s.

Got a "new" Grand Prix yesterday -
This has been a long time coming. I've put about 10,000 miles on it since I've owned it (got it in Sept of '07). Congrats Keith. Did it once with a '67 GTO beater I had. Put 100k on other vehicles but they had the million mile odometers so they just kept counting.

Birthday today!
September 18, 1964 = 56 years young. The GTO and I are roughly the same age (I'm just a tad older). We are both getting a bit "crinkly" but still hanging in there. Getting close to the last drive of the year; drove the GP over to my brother-in-law's house yesterday and thought his home made a good 1960's ish backdrop. New to the thread and I just read the chronicles of your family's racing history with Pontiac. What a great story - thank you for sharing!
Black '65 GTO's are my favorite. I owned this one through most of the '80's out in dusty West Texas: |

Baby's home.
I got a call from the Gilmore a couple weeks ago that they were done using it for their Muscle Car display. I went and retrieved it Tuesday of this week, which was a beautiful fall day to do it. All told it was there from June of 2018 to almost November of 2021. That is the first time the car had ever been out of my family's direct control since September of 1964. Wow, that’s a long time away! I’m sure you’re glad it’s back!

I had to put new tires on the Grand Prix. The older radials that were on it were starting to come apart.
I liked the thinner 5/8" white wall that it came with but due to the tire shortage and general status of 14" tires it was not meant to be. I was trading off size (P225/75R14 vs up one size vs down one size), white wall (and width) vs redline, availability and price. After agonizing over my excel spreadsheets I made a decision and went with one size down (P215/75R14) and 1" white walls from Coker. Took about 4 months to get them through Summit Racing. I wasn't so sure if I loved them at first, but upon further review I see that they are actually a bit more "authentic". Before, after and vintage photos shown below. I replaced the belted repo wide ovals on my '72 last summer. Hated to do it but felt that they were too old to trust anymore. Went Firestone radial repo's from Coker. They're raised white letter and look pretty close to what they were using back then. Going to be nice to drive on radials again.

Just realized tomorrow is my seniority date: June 11, 1979 (so - hmm, carry the 1, etc) = 43 years ago I started with GM.

Congratulations! Staying with one company that long these days is quite a feat.

Ran into an old friend today at the Widetrackers Dustoff:
This car belonged to my dad. He rescued it from a field in Oregon, intending to make a Super Duty clone out of it. Unfortunately he passed before he could make that particular dream a reality. When he passed he gifted it to our friend Ed Lear. Ed has been working on it all along and now has it in driveable condition. It proved to be popular, too, as Ed won his class today. I probably haven't seen this car in 17 years.
