Congrats!!!

It is a very special car, and I am sure it has gone to a good home!

Hey Chris,
Looks great out there in the California sun, and after living in the Great White North for so many years, it deserves a nice warm retirement!

I'm glad to see it go to a good home where it will get more attention than I had time to give it :)

The block in the car now is a 1970 455, casting #9789140, dated L189. It's a YH code. According to Pete McCarthy's book, it should have 4-bolt mains, but I have been told that is not always the case. I have not decided what to do about the block, whether to find a correct WC code or to go with an SR block. The car runs really well, so I am in no hurry. There was an NOS 1972 455HO block on racing junkie recently which would have been perfect for my car, but someone else grabbed it before I saw it.

I will be at the Sacramento Swap Meet in a few weeks, but I'll be taking the Formula 400 so I can put it in the car corral with a for sale sign on it. You're welcome to come by the house afterward if you want to check out the t/a. Maybe you can bring the creampuff so I can get a look at it.

If you find a correct 71 WC that's a find to be sure...

Where in CA do you live? Would be nice to get our cars together.

My new dash bezel arrived today. A big "Thank You" to James (blue71ta) for selling this to me (for a vey reasonable price). I think it's just about prefect for my car, patina-wise. As soon as I find an oil sending unit I will swap out the bezels so I can remove the aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

Judge273 04-13-2016 07:48 PM

James is a great source and fair guy!

blue71ta 04-13-2016 08:54 PM

Chris,

glad it arrived safely and will be put to good use. Send me a note on that oil pressure switch...might be able to help on that as well.

Mike,

thanks for the compliment.

The Weekend Magazine was a supplement in most major Canadian Saturday newspapers....

Cars were NOT the usual focus.......found this about 10 years ago on ebay...

The cover is the BEST part...Four different cars were tested...including the 71 T/A......roadtest is really BRIEF and LAME....think it was done in Michigan.....but pics are likely shot in Canada...

I can send you a copy if you are interested....
