Backspacing on new Torq-Thrusts.

I'm still shopping for tires & wheels for my 67' GTO. I like the looks of the new American Racing Torq-Thrust Originals (TTO, 309 series) & the prices at Summit & Jegs are reasonable. The 15x7's are around $170 each. What concerns me is that this particular wheel has a 3.75" backspace where the 15x7 Factory Rally ll wheel has a 4.25" backspace. Don't know why American Racing uses this smaller backspace as their "standard" size. Will this half-inch smaller backspacing make a big difference? I would like to run a 235x60x15 all the way around but could go a bit smaller (225x60x15) if that would prevent any rubbing/interference/scrapping problems. I just want to find a proper fit that won't create problems. Any info. or advice any of you can provide will be appreciated.

For whatever reason the 15X7 Appliance wheels are more plentiful than the vintage Americans.

Recommendations appreciated

I want to go with Torq thrust 2's on my 67 conv gto .
I am thinking 17 x 8 rear and 17 x 7 for the front. What size tires? Car color is Corvette Carlisle Blue, so I was thinking blue lines?, or red lines. Suggestions are appreciated. Bill

I have a 67 lemans that I just done. I was going to put on 18" wheels but the ones I want are about $1800. I have a set of REV wheel 15" torque thrusts that I just put on for now. Now I'm thinking about just keeping the 15 on but I want to put on a wider tire on the back. I has a weld wheels on with a 275/60/15 in the rear. It was a 15x8.5 with a 5.5 backs pacing cause I have a 68 12 bolt rear in it. My question is does any company make a torque thrust with that back spacing. All I see is 4.75 backs pacing or do I have to have mine cut and resized. Thanks for any info.

Got this for my 1969 firebird, rears 15x8.5-4.5" BS with 295-65-15 drag radials. Fronts are 15x6 with 205-70-15's. They were fully polished but I painted the spokes flat black with plastikote. Love the look.

Will the original style NEW TTs fit over my front discs? I really don't like the 'D's as much as the straight spoke. Not sure what the disc brakes on my car came off of but they are pretty standard fare. Early '70s GM probably. I'm running 15" tires and plan to keep that size.

Can anyone find a listing for an Original style TT in a 15x6?

I have these legend vision series from Summit I think I got them...they are on the rear with my drag radials that's the rim only pic

I also have US mag with Street tires Firestone Firehawks hard to tell the difference when I have the drag radials on the rear and street tires on the frt....

Pic in sig is US Mags...I like the rims no issues.....

Those are very nice indeed.
I've already got the Torque Thrusts. I like them but the 7" width in the front is rubbing with my tires. I decided to go with 6" rims for the front but they only come in the 'D' style. Just wanted to make sure that they don't exist in the original style before I mount them.
I couldn't find them anywhere, even on the mfg.'s site.

I got Torque Thrust II Twos last year, 15x10 with a 6" BS and 15x8 with a 4" BS for my 69. (I now have Welds with 6" BS and 295/50 fits great with lip clearance). Torque Thrusts are really cool except the 15" rears have a 13.125" drop center so most rear disc won't fit. Discount tire puts tires on wheels before test fitting, my bad for not telling them how to do their job.

I've had these for sale for a year now, took 2 months and are like $1750 now with tax I think. I'm asking way less, in for sale section.

I run original torque thrusts on one of the cars here. They do make them in 5 or 6 inch, but you have to call. They aren't listed on the sites I've looked at, and I assume because when you get into the 5 and 6 inch sizes the prices literally triple over the 7" prices. You'll cringe when you find out. lol.

I put the modern 20” TT on my wagon- made quite an improvement!

Always liked the vintage ones- have a few random ones in my garage.

I can see those as a change of pace and it looks awesome...but I have to tell you, I LOVE it with the wheel discs and whitewalls. Beautiful!

Thanks! The white walls came with the car and are going on my 58 Bonneville when it’s painted

I bought my wife's old 'Stang a set of American Racing Torq Thrust rims from 4wheelonline. They looked even better in person.
