73 GTO on Ebay
4 Attachment(s)
73 GTO numbers matching 400/4sp. Rust issues everywhere. Current ebay price $3,500 reserve not met. Not sure what his price is, but was listed before at $6,500 and didn't sell. Lots of work, but an original 400/4sp is a rare car indeed. What would you offer?

Nice interior, nice color, unusual with the low options. I kinda like the low option cars from that era but manual brakes I'm not big on. Four speed is a big plus.
Could be a nice car but I'd be scared to buy it without seeing it in person. The ds quarter looks like a goner...so there's probably more bad news under the paint. $4k....maybe $5K if it checked out nicer than expected... But I definitely don't know the market on these cars. I'll bet his reserve is about $8~$9K.... EDIT- Just noticed, manual brakes, front discs? That's downright strange. |
Worth $5000 all day long

Manual disc is fairly common on no AC '73 4spds, also '70-72 Formula 400's.
Unless you have the ultimate panel beating/ working skills, OR access to rust free 1/4 pieces (entire rust free 1/4's are next to impossible) not worth messing with. 4K is what I'm seeing, have chased nice rustfree '73 & '74 A-body rear sheet metal for longtime GTO guys pouring on the NOS trim parts, Today its much easier to find a nice interior rusty paneled Northern '73 project than it is to find killer condition sheetmetal. |
Pair of NOS 1973 specific quarters on EBAY right now:

Yup, they've been on there forever.

All the parts to fix it were with the car before a member on here bought it, sold the car and then the parts. I have talked to the current owner and it's not gonna sell for $5K, but not sure he will end up doing the car either? Those quarters on Ebay have been on there for years worth about half what they are asking!

Rusty but honest looking
That's a really decent car, you can tell it's unmolested and solid except for the rust in the quarters. Agree will be an expensive labor of love to restore, but 4 speed with black interior is pretty cool.
I'd personally just get the drivetrain solid and drive the heck out of it. Worth 4 or 5K easy if its running solid. Didn't see rust in trunk but would check if interior floor pans rusted, probably not. If not, it's worth it. No point restoring to perfection because the market isn't there yet for these cars. You'll be in it 20-30k and can't sell them for that yet. Or look for a rust free one which is VERY hard to find (not a lot of them) and will cost you at least 12-15k. I love these cars. I have a 1974 as my daily and would KILL for a 4 speed. Car drives so great on the freeway. Better than the earlier GTOs or Lemans in my opinion. |
I quickly sold my unrestored 1973 4 speed almost 4 years ago for $20k, and it had a undesirable tan interior with the Florentine Red exterior.
|
$2K+ is still a little steep for a pair of 1/4 panels, given nice example of Can Am's and Grand Am's rarely get above $20K and almost never above $25K.

Franks pontiac for quarters
Try Frank's Pontiac for the quarters, they have several for $725 and $825 in great shape. That's currently the market price.
Those Ebay ones are crap and overpriced bigly. https://www.frankspontiacparts.com/u...ts/grandam.htm |
The drivers side quarter has a couple of dents. What's wrong with the passengers side? You're still ahead of the game getting the NOS parts rather than cutting numerous spot welds, and taking a chance that the used ones have some rot. That is if your time is worth anything.
|
A used quarter for $750 or a new one for $1000... I'm spending the extra 250. All sheetmetal for colonnades is overpriced based on what they sell for. Those that have it don't want to sell it ,and those that need it don't want to pay more than they paid for their car.
|
LH quarter is 1170 +300
Agree NOS is best but that Ebay one is dented and is 1170 plus 300 shipping, so 1500 bucks for a quarter that's dented. Why is it dented in 2 places for that price?
$725 for an undented one seems better? If you buy that Ebay 4pd GTO, expect to spend a lot to get it nice. I just noticed in one of the Ebay pics that the floor pan in rear seat well is rusted through. Its gonna need a lot of work. Unless just rebuild motor and trans and enjoy as a ratty muscle car (sort of the trend these days). |

There are N.O.S. quarters out there much cheaper than those on ebay!!! I bought a '73 passenger side for $650 drove a 1 1/2 to get it. Can't beat N.O.S. for these cars!
