2nd Gen Rear Window

I am looking for a rear window for my 1976 TA (with lines for defroster). From pictures it seems that all rear windows for a 1975 through to 1981 are the same. Is this the case? Also, can someone comment on which second generation Camaro rear windows if any are the same as the Firebird 75 to 81? Thanks

yes your post is correct.

The 1970-1981 'F-body' shared roof and trunk skins, as well as all under structure across divisions;
the rear windows are the same for ALL 1975-1981 F-bodies;
You just need the one with a printed heat grid.

I do not know if there were running differences between 1975-1981 heated grid rear glass.

Thanks a bunch. I have a lead on a clear rear window with defroster in a boneyard near here, from a 1977. Quick question. Mine is clear and the boneyard one is apparently clear. If the window is in poor shape, I might have to go the new route (hope not). Ames sells one but the defroster version is tinted green. Does anyone know if this is a in-your-face green tint. My car is red-burgundy.

The factory tint had a 'hint' of a green tint when looked at in certain ways. It does have a greenish appearance that is noticeable, but I would not say 'its in your face'. If all the other glass is clear it will most likely stand out. Back windows are fairly easy to remove. Its best if you have a partner and a piece of piano wire or a guitar string. Poke one end through the butyl seal and then wrap each end of the wire (inside glass and outside glass) around a stick of wood. Pulling in a sawing fashion work your way around the glass. These are not tempered like the windshield so they are a bit more forgiving.

There's no offering for a clear rear glass with the heat grid? Maybe check with a local glass shop?

Guess it's possible the grid was part of a convenience package that included A/C, which might explain that, but think you can order one clear. Probably have to wait for it, but so be it.

I would check locally as well. I bought my windshield installed from a local guy. Price was cheap, I thought. It was right around $200 delivered to and installed in my garage.
