67 Trim Tag Question
4 Attachment(s)
I’m back in the Pontiac hobby after a 6 yrs hiatus.
I just purchased this 67 and although I like it with the ivory top I think it should have been black from factory, do you guys agree? Personally I would’ve done white painted but that’s me. |
I agree with you. Black top originally, I would leave it white.
On the tag is the last letter a 'P' or a 'R' ? P would be for radio I think? (R is for rear speaker as decode said) |

X2 on original black top and that it looks much better with the white one.
|
I like the way it looks. plus you will not see yourself coming and going. That Gulf Turquoise is a really nice paint.
|
The owner before this one said it was white when they bought it 20 yrs ago. Maybe the original owner had it changed or maybe they goofed the data plate or build. Who knows
|
So I had a thought, could this car have had a black painted top and then was covered in vinyl? Would the K-2 code be different for a painted top?
Thanks |
Yes. The 2 would have been a letter code for paint.

Like Mr. Wallace stated above, a two-tone painted roof car, or any painted roof car, would have a Letter code and not a number, an all black non vinyl top car will show A-A for Starlight black Lower- Starlight Black Upper. A Black car with a Black Vinyl Top would show A-2 for a Starlight black lower and black vinyl top. A black and white two-tone car would show A-C signifying a Starlight black lower and Cameo Ivory upper. Hope this helps.

The vinyl tops were a number code, the painted tops were a letter code.
K A would have been for Gulf Turquoise and A would have been Black upper/top. 1 is for Ivory White convertible top. (if had been a convertible) |
Thanks guys, I wasn’t thinking, in the back of my head I know that. Lol
