Goodson LB 1 Cast Blast is a good product

Wakepowell 03-09-2022 02:50 PM

Originally the brake calipers were black just like the brake master cylinder

natural
on the 2 original sets of 1 year only " 69 " casting original calipers I have

no signs of black anywhere

I remember them being natural or rusty.:D Cast Blast or VHT Clear would be my choice. I haven't tried it yet, but 3M makes high temp caliper wrap. If it works, it would be better than paint. All depends on how much you drive the car.

Plasticcoat makes a sweet cast iron high heat gray paint
dont forget to prime first with rustoleum
fairly sure VHT makes it also

Again, if you are looking for a "correct" restoration, the brake calipers were painted black. Now the black paint applied at the factory never lasted long due to the quality of the paint and the heat of the calipers.

Over the counter caliper were not painted and were sold as bare cast metal.
