Alternator Numbers
 

I have two spare alternators that I would like to identify. Doing a Goggle search I can find one of them. That number is 1100704 and comes up with '67 FB Std, '68 FB V8, and then some GTO's. Problem there is the date code is 9F11 and can't find an identification chart showing this alt used in a '69 application :confused:

I found the below listing for the 1100704. Listed for 1967 - 69, so the date code makes sense.

704 was the standard 37 amp alternator for GTOs from 1966-1970.

1100704 was originally issued by Delco for use by Olds in '65.

Also in '65, it was used in production by Pontiac in place of the Pontiac 1100729 37A alternator and very possibly superseded the 1100729 as the standard 37A alt for Pontiac Tempests/GTOs during the '65 Model Year.

As Eric noted, thereafter it was a very common alt for Pontiac for several Model Years thru the '70 Model Year. I'd guess Olds may have continued to use it as well.

The date code would be good for a late built '69 or perhaps an early '70. Since it was used in the '69 Firebird, remember that the '69 Firebird remained in production into Nov. of '69.

The 1100575 was not used during the GTO years by Pontiac.

Here is a link to a very long list (scroll down toward the bottom) purporting to list all of the applications for the 1100575 from about '73 onward. The date code on yours would seem to indicate a very late '74 use or more likely an early '75 use or possibly '84/'85 since there was some use indicated as late as that for this alternator.

You'll even see some AMC & Jeep applications listed for the 1100575.

Keep in mind, the stamp codes were specific to certain applications. But the base alt was used for any no. of O.E. code & p/n specific alts that only differed by the pulley installed by Delco on the unit or perhaps by the clocking of the case.

So somebody needing a 55A alt could use this one as long as the alternator model matched what they needed and the stamped no. was not important to them.
