Oil pressure sending unit options for an OHC with rally gauges

I've looking for an oil pressure sending unit and I've seen 2 different parts that say they work for on OHC engine. One is 60lbs other 80lbs which would be correct.

Where's a good source for too.

Thanks. Rick

Okay. Thanks for the info. I have a 67 Firebird, the gauge goes up to 80# so seeing how your link is to a 60# unit and your gauge is 60# I assume I need a 80# sending unit, correct?

Thanks.

Rick,
Since the '67 was still a 230 I'm not aware of a pressure/gauge change?
Unless you're sure I would confirm it's a 6cyl gauge and not one from a V8.

If you're not sure, post over on in the Firebird section and/or on our OHC 6 Facebook page.
I'm sure others will chime in.

Sorry, I can't help further.

I have also never owned a 67 Sprint FB, so I don't know the correct gauge reading, but if you use a 80 PSI sender it should work with your 80 PSI Gauge.

I think the reason for using a 60 PSI gauge is the fact that a stock OHC-6 had very low oil pressure at idle, usually around 8-10 PSI if everything was perfect. It would look even lower on an 80 PSI Gauge

Thanks for the info guys, as always great help here. I have a 67 Firebird Sprint. I dug out my Pontiac Parts Catalog, for sending units it only list a number for an 8 cylinder however if you look up the rally oil pressure gauge there is only one part number.

My car has an 80 PSI gauge in it which I'm pretty certain is original to the car. Had the car since 1988 and it had gauge from the factory.

I'll go with an 80.
Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,

may I have a offtopic question for you?

as you have a Firebird with a 230 ohc, could you please measure the distance between the fan and the radiator?

I'm wondering if a wider cold case radiator would fit into it.

Sorry and thank you, Karl

Rick,
I was curious so I posted over on the FB forum and the '67 & '68 Firebird gauge was 80#

Cheers.

Thanks for double checking the gauge PSI.

Karl,
Here some dimensions. I have a bigger radiator then stock in my car. The fins are 2" wide on my radiator (factory is 1 1/2").

From the engine side of the radiator support to the engine side if my radiator is 2 13/16", I have a 1 7/8" fan spacer. That combination leaves 9/16" between the fan and radiator.

Another measurement: engine side of radiator support to timing belt cover is between 5 1/2" to 5 5/8" (hard to get an accurate measurement).

If you need more measurement or a picture let me know.

Rick
