Air Cleaner pre-heater vacuum can
 

Anyone know where to get a single pre-heater flapper vacuum can for a 68 GTO? I thought they were all the same, by they aren't. The rods are different lengths.

I see Ames sells a pair of them for the 68 non-RA dual snorkel (which I didn't think existed) but I have no idea if they are correct for a single snorkel. Probably not ... even a 1/8" difference in rod length will keep the valve from opening all the way.

Externally they are the exact same, but the rods are different.

If necessary I guess I could modify the rod on the one I have that works, but you know how I hate modifying things :)

I ended up just modifying the unit I have that works. Cut the rod, cleaned it, spliced and soldered it with a rigid wire splice coupling in such a way that it added about 1/4" to the length ... plenty strong and now the flap works properly.
