Is any body else having battery issues with their 04 gto. Seems like if the car sits for more than a day or two it wont start. I personally know of at least 6 cars that have had this problem. Seems to go away when the car gets a new battery. I tested my battery today and it only had 402cca. What are the aussies doing sending us there rejects?

Check ls1gto.com, there was a whole long thread about the issue awhile ago. I believe it had something to do with leaving the keys in the ignition.

Its the time they have hung around the dealership undriven....

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago and it was a dealer trade from 40 miles away. The salesman drove it to the dealership and had it detailed, and when they went to pull it out of the bay, it was dead. He had to swap out a battery with another on the lot because they had already closed...Talk about getting off to a good start!

I hate having to pull the key out everytime I get out of the car. Hope they change that on my 06.

its due to the radio will stay on till u pull the key out of the ign.

Even if the radio is off though, don't leave the key in the ignition! Speaking of the radio, did you know you can turn the radio on without a key? Also, you aware of the bass control in the trunk?

'04 GTO Battery

Due to the design of the security system/computer, these batteries will be dead after 4-6 weeks if the car is not driven. I checked with a friend in Austrailia who says the Holdens have the same syndrome. It doesn't matter if the key is in or out.

You could disconnect the battery for storage, but the engine management and radio settings would be reset every time. I use a trickle charger through the 12 volt accessory socket.
