Soft Brake Pedal
 

I have a 4 drum bake car and years ago had them all redone and started driving the car
more often and the brake pedal is soft and took it to a mechanic to have the
brakes bled and everything checked and the car stops but they engage like half or more
before stop the car. he says its normal on a drum brake
When you push the brake pedal a few times fast the brake engage a lot better but
I was wondering if there is an adjustment by the brake pedal or if the power booster
is failing and I need to replace it. He said it was working properly

BS. You either have a master cylinder going out, a leak in the system,, rubber lines getting soft(not as common)or your shoes need adjusting.
If anything, if the booster was bad you would have a hard pedal, not a soft one. Does the level in the master cylinder drop after you drive it?

Did you ever get it figured out?

Pedal travel is a direct relation of distance from shoe to dum. Adjust the brake shoes so the drums fit snug and your pedal travel will be greatly reduced. The softness is either air in the system or, an internal leak in the master cylinder. Replace brake master, re-bleed, adjust shoes. Should stop on a dime.
