Hi guys....sounds like it was a great event. I think I am going to have to attend one of the events soon so I can see that great cars and meet everyone.

I have a couple questions for now regarding the restoration of my 74 455 SD.

Does anyone have a list of the special markings (i.e drive shaft stripes) and stickers that need to be applied. I am building a points car and want to be correct?

Which nuts and bolts need to be coated/plated (ie. phosphate coated, zinc plated)?

The only rust in my car was a few small holes in the tail panel and the lower section of the panel and also a little rust in the drivers rear lower quarter panel and in the taillight section.

Do yo think to piece in the sections of the panels or replace the complete quarter and tail panel. I am leaning towards replacing the complete panels using original panels off a car that was parted out. I have heard that Goodmark has a nice re-pop tail panel, so may use a new re-pop tail panel and a quarter off an original car.

Any help would be appreciated.

Bryan

It is my SD's birthday, built the 4th week of JULY 1974, and shipped July 29th 1974! This is the SD Trans Am that I purchased from Steve Schappaugh a few years ago.

We are targeting the Trans Am Nationals for the restoration completion. Below is a photo album link showing the restoration progress! Not all of the photos are posted, especially the block sanding that has been underway, but you will get an idea of the overall progress.

1973 SD455 Automatic car for sale and ends today.

Duane, Im thinking 6500 rpm would be more effective.

The black interior on red carpet looks so classy in yet a fine trashy way :) I dig it!

Looks like the market is still strong for the '73 SD T/A. :D
Nice chunk of change for a car with missing A/C and other minor issues.

GREGGDOG 07-24-2009 02:29 PM

The car was listed awhile back with the trans stated as, "not original to the car." In this recent ad he stated," TH 400 trans rebuilt." Yes, a nice chunk of change for the car. I do LOVE that red carpet with those black seats.

i guess i'm going nuts - around too much lacquer thinner i guess - the blue formula is a 73 (one of the 10 made) not a 74 - the red car on the rack is a 74 sd trans am - i'm about half way thru the restorations on both cars - i'll get a few more pictures posted soon - yes i will drive them

Are many of you guys going to the Trans Am Nationals at Dayton?

I'm flying over with a few buddies and it would be great to meet some of you face to face and take a look at your cars, there arent to many SD's this side of the pond that I can compare mine to and take notes! Hoping to take away a lot of tips and info from you all.

I've been to a few other shows and events but this is the first T/A nats I will have attended, so i'm buzzing already.....can't wait!! :D Just wish I was able to drive into the event in one of my cars!

By the way, those restorations look awesome....

Welcome UK SD455 MC,
Looks like a nice collection of cars you have over there. Where those cars all over in the UK or did you ship them over ?
Also if you could post a couple pictures and notes on them would be way cool.
Love to see, and hear about these foreign cars.
Enjoy the forum,

Brew

I was impressed with that sale price in this economy, and misc items missing or not functional. I'm in quite the pickle, I lost my Automotive related job and now have to consider selling my car. Its definately not for sale as of yet but it could be on the market within the next few months. If I do put it up for sale, I'll post it here first but this job search is tough here in Michigan! I was just happy to see these cars are bringing 85k.
