A chuckle from the passed

Last night while sorting thru my old auto related Mag's from the 70's I came across a CARS mag issue from Feb of 76.
At that time they had the great Nunzi Romano doing / handling the Pontiac tech questions submitted and here's a real Née slapped as they use to say!

The questioner asks what he can do to get his 1970 455 Bonnie into the 11s! and Nunzi responds with this
" Get a lenght of good quality Steel cable from your nearest Otis elevator dealer and attach one end to the front bumper of your car and the other end to the rear push bar of Don Garlits top fuel dragster, that would be the easiest way to break into the 11s"
Lol!!!!

My favorite. I had cut that out and glued it to my garage wall. .wonder if it was Jim Hand?

Have some respect; itsa past, not passed.

From the thread title I thought you were laughing at dead people...

steve25 01-28-2018 07:33 AM

Why, did Jim have a 70 455 Bonnie in 1976?

Well as far as I know Nunzi is still with us!

I have that magazine and clearly remember his comment. Good humor for sure. As Pontiac faithful, we all hung on your dad's every word. Now if I can just find that cable......

Think a Firebird funny car would be as good as Garlit's dragster?

:D

Keep us informed on the dyno of the RA V !!!!!!!!!!!!

:)

Of course the other half of the issue to be dealt with is slowing down a land barge 1970 Bonnie from over 130 mph !

Dragster link (rail jobs)....plenty of Pontiac powered dragsters here.
