63 421 HO's

This is from memory (off my PHS paperwork) so it may not be 100% correct, but in 1963 there were approx 242 421 HO's built. Bonnes, Cats, etc ...

Just FYI

Wow that is a low number. Thanks for sharing that, Bruce!

I thought the number was higher than that just for the 08b and 11b s. But im good with your number and will throw it out at the wife every time she sees a 421-related charge on the visa.

Eye candy anyone?

Engine-Ear 11-28-2014 02:58 PM

That is some SWEET candy! Love the air cleaners, BTW! (FWIW, my 421, built in OCT of '62, is an 11 B/T and is going in my '62 GP.)

gentile3, maybe you can call/email Rick Gonser in the POCI - he is a tech advisor and may have access to production numbers for your block code.

Ok ...I was wrong ! It shows that I mentally blocked out ALL other 421 HO's that were not like mine. Attached are the 63 Pontiac Engine Production Numbers provided to me by PHS.

08B's and 11B's were much higher Bob ...(don't tell your wife :-) )

I remember thinking that 262 was a low number of 421 HO 3x2 automatics made when I was hunting for a 50Q block way back in 2003. My car was missing the original block and I wanted to find a real 50Q ....spent a year or more hunting on ebay. Purchased a 64 421 3x2 auto block (forget the code) when it became available and the logistics of getting it were right. Then ....not 3 months later a friend found a 50Q block for sale on ebay ...and I had to have it. Think I drove 1800 miles round trip to pick it up.
Ahhh ...the good old days of parts hunting !!

I came up with the same numbers, but have the HO numbers switched.
520 for the Auto (YK)
562 for the manual (WJ)
