73 Ventura Quarters
I am replacing the PS quarter on a 73 Ventura. It was dented and had filler, obvious choice is to replace it.
The DS quarter is perfect, no visible signs of rot or rust. Is it prudent to just replace the DS quarter now to avoid any future issues? OR...is there a better strategy? |
I would no more sooner replace a perfect quarter than a perfect engine or a perfect interior.
Or a perfect wife... Wait, I made that last part up! |
Just because the passenger side quarter panel has a dent and some filler doesn’t mean you automatically replace it.
A skilled body man can straighten the dent using a minimum amount of filler. I’d much rather keep the original panel on the car if it can be repaired properly. If the damage is heavy and extensive it may make sense to replace it. Your driver’s side quarter needs nothing so why would you replace it ? |
A body panel isn't like a headlight bulb that you might expect to need replacement soon just because the other one reached the end of it's lifespan.

The PS may have been salvageable, not sure. There is some rot on the lower trunk drop off.
I will blow out, vacuum and treat inside the trunk area on the drivers side. |
I'd be curious to see some pics myself.
