1975 Formula 350 ' L76'
I picked up a dealers book for 1976 Pontiac's a while ago, and have enjoyed flipping through it;
I'd really like to get others, but generally the "price of admission" is such that I cannot justify it. Recently, while flipping through this album, I realized that the 'L76' 350-4bbl engine wasn't available in 1976 (at least not on the Firebird). I previously knew that this engine option returned for 1975 after being on hiatus since the end of the 1969 model year, so I just assumed that it was available through to 1977 in the Formula. Are there any break downs of 1975 L76 versus L30 Formulas? I don't have any good 1975 model year stuff which might have spelled out option limitations on the L76 engine; What if any were there? Was it a Formula only option, or was is it available in lesser models? |
The 76 350 4 bbl was available in California only on the Firebirds, $155 on base and Esprit and $55 on Formula. (no idea of production totals)
The 350 4 bbl was standard engine in the Formula in 1975. Optional on the base and Esprit. (no idea on production totals) :) |
/\ thanks John!!
IIRC the L30 moved to a credit option in 1975 0 is that correct? |
L30 was not available on the Formula in 75, it was an available option on the base and Esprit. (6 cyl standard)

Now I did not know that!! |
Pontiac bragged about the '76 Formula 350 as a Leader in the auto industry in Fuel Economy for a 350 V-8 engine. I don't recall for sure, but I am pretty sure this was a 2bbl. IIRC it made 26 mpg in testing. A bright yellow / black Formy was used to advertise this and I personally took down the huge posters to clean the glass for the late to arrive 77 posters.

/\ I recall reading that some time ago.
