Has anyone else seen what Trans Am Worldwide is doing now?

Interesting new models they are doing...not necessarily Pontiac inspired

The 70/SS based on the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport

Doesn't look like they are currently making the '69 Hurst Judge model anymore...but I suppose that $$ talks.

Creative. I wonder what the production break even point is?

vertigto 07-01-2022 12:26 PM

All seem to be relatively low production numbers. For the 70/SS says "*Prices starting at $150,000"

jhein 07-01-2022 01:26 PM

I like all of them. They did a particularly good job on the SS.

I love those t tops!

72projectbird 07-01-2022 05:15 PM

The Chevelle looks awful. The TA looks pretty good, especially with the T-tops.

GTOnly70 07-01-2022 10:29 PM

Cartoonish.

Kind of. But aren't almost all modern sports cars sort of cartoonish? Also, I try not to look at them as "copies" but modern "evolution" of what was.

i saw their chevelle concept awhile ago, personally i dont think it looks right or good... its basically a chev-maro. the T/A looks right since it was always the same F-body platform as camaro, but doing the bigger cars from a camaro is not my cup of tea. & the price is ridiculous.

77 TRASHCAN 07-02-2022 10:38 AM

Bart, Stuart, go ahead and slap this on shut, please!

vertigto 07-02-2022 12:17 PM

I think the SS hardtop in red ain't bad, considering it's adapted to an existing platform and not built on it's own original chassis design.

Blue

If I were a rich, money makes no difference person, I'd order that blue one!

GTOnly70 07-03-2022 09:07 PM

I'm holding out for the 2022 Camaro / Karmann Ghia mish mash. Should be sweet.

kingbuzzo 07-03-2022 11:42 PM

One on bat this week... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...let-camaro-40/

TAKerry 07-05-2022 07:17 AM

All of those are quite silly. For the kind of money being asked a 'real' car can be purchased. I cant wait until they turn a new camaro into a 69 dodge charger!

You said that rite. People just can’t get enough of fake cars. Fake Cobras (fauxbra)doesnt look all that bad now.

What are they going to do when GM discontinues the Camaro?

mgarblik 07-05-2022 03:53 PM

None of them are for me, but they aren't building them for a grouchy, retired old guy brought up on real muscle cars. They do have a "Transformers", or "Hot Wheels" kind of look to them. But obviously someone is actually buying them and they have been in business just over a decade. So that tells me they are a legitimate business and the cars must not be horrible up close and not a complete nightmare to own and maintain. I kinda like the look of the Chevelle because it looks less "Camaro" than the other models. As far as the future, possibly they could get a deal on 25-50 of the last Camaro run. GM can't give those cars away, that's why they are being discontinued. Possibly start with a new Cadillac model of some type? It's a pretty serious investment for a kit car. I liken it to the old Zimmer model of the past and many others. Certainly exclusive.

Right. Because millennials are waxing nostalgic for GTOs, Chevelles and Trans Ams.

Millenial here. :P

Trust me, it's more of an affordability problem. When I bring my '79 to the gym, you can bet millenials and Gen Z's alike stop to look and take photos. These cars have a charisma that is almost impossible to resist no matter what age you are.

The issue is that most of us are broke as hell and drowning in college debt after doing exactly what we were told to do to get where we wanted in life, yet it got us nowhere other than in jobs requiring college degrees and yet have inhumanely low pay, and in the midst of one of the most daunting housing markets in history. Last thing we can afford is a classic car, even if we do want them... and that's especially after how bloated their prices have gotten.

I struck gold on my T/A when everything tanked in the beginning of COVID in 2020. Even at the time, I underpaid for it. But since then? I've sure you've seen their prices. They've skyrocketed - I thought that the 2018 surge when Burt died would be the ceiling for late 2nd gens, but I guess it wasn't. I've seen dudes asking 15k for a 79' W72 with frame rail rot on FB.

I can guarantee you any millenial off the street will take a 69 Charger or Goat over a 2022 Civic any day of the week. Buuuuut... you get the idea.

Oh, and no offense to anybody that likes them, but those tribute cars look like toys. Their main benefit is modern tech and exclusivity (which isn't always good). You can take care of the modern tech part by getting a REAL Chevelle or T/A and restomod it. Should come out to exactly or even less than 150k.
