1966 2+2
 

I want 10K for the project.
I'm always looking for other 2+2's but they seem to be really hard to find.
contemplating selling this to fund another project.
It's the most buried of all my cars.
Needs a full trunk pan. Has some rust around the rear window.
retains it's interior.
Has it's original block but the block has cracks in a few water jackets.
I have a repair kit with the motor. I also have all the parts new to rebuild the motor.
Frame was por15'd before I got it.
the guy I bought it from put a strap around the back of the car and hit a bump and it put a wobble on both rear quarters.
Purchased the car from the second owner. First owner was said to be a school teacher in Tennessee and she made the dealership put a column shift in the car as the story goes.
Haven't phs'd it. Didn't need to as I love the car without even that document.
Titled. Not in my name, still in the second owners name.
If the 10K is too much, please find another one in this shape for less and tell me where it's at. I'll consider purchasing it.
It took me several years to find a project car. Just have not gotten around to it.

If someone is serious about the car I will take some more pics.
I know it looks like crap with all those other pontiac grand prix parts on it but it doesn't get noticed much like that all the way in the back of a line of cars.

I had a pm telling me this car isn't worth the asking price.
I have 8K into the car from purchasing it 15 years ago.
Have prices gone down that much in that amount of time? That it isn't even worth that?
I saw the one that sold here for 2K. This car is nicer than that specific car.
Understand there is no commenting on these threads. almost 300 views and only thing I get is that it's not worth the asking price.

What are the really nice quality drivers (not the trailer queens) going for now? What would it take for your car to be that nice driver? I'm not following that market so this is just my 2 cents but I think $10k might on the high side by a fair bit. No offense intended.

Last year at Norwalk in the car corral there was a running driving completely assembled '66 Catalina 2 drHT 4 speed 389 listed for $9500 I think it was. Complete solid car with a perfect, if dirty, interior. It needed paint and there were small holes just in front - or to the rear? - of the rear wheels and that was it. Not a rust bucket at all. A friend and I both wanted to buy it but didn't need it so did not. Granted it was a standard Catalina and not a 2+2 but at $9500 was a much better project than this car.

I'm not meaning to discredit this car but you asked why you weren't getting hits on it.

If I was dropping $10k on a fairly plain Jane ‘66 2+2 HT, I’d better be driving it home.

Standard catalina's are much easier to find and still drive the same as a 2+2.
Best Pontiac I've owned was a 66 Ventura 389 more door. great car!

No offense taken from any of the comments. Asking too much in the current "pontiac" market I guess. It'll just have to sit. Good thing about the mountains of Colorado is that the car won't rust any more in the years to come.

If I can find a plain jane driving 2+2 for 10K i'd buy it.

2 years ago I paid 20k for a super nice '66 2+2 convertible. 2 months ago I paid $6000 for a good running driving '65 Grand Prix with a 4 speed California car. If I was selling your car... I'd be asking half of what you're asking.... Not trying to be an a$$hole... just being realistic...

Definitely try Ebay. I also got a bunch of " it's to much " responses. Ebay will determine the value. My 1965 Catalina 2+2 sold for the 15 thousand I was asking. Yet people on here said it should be half.

There was a real nice 65 2+2 Vert 4-sp for sale $8500 needed the front body mounts. Body was nice & interior was almost perfect. I would have jumped on it but backed with up with
cars already!

front sheet metal was off but was a driving car before the disassembly!

I appreciate all the comparison's, but anything 65 is quite different due to that front grill being different. I don't feel the 65's hold near the value of the 66's. But what do I know. Apparently this 66 isn't worth what it would cost to have it towed.

65 and 66 2+2's have very similar resale values, if in similar condition and with similar options. It's really a matter of taste pure and simple. Performance and options were very similar, they drive the same. Some like the more ornate and softer interior of the 65 cars better, more chrome trim in the interior, thicker seats. Some like the 65 dash better with all round gauges vs the combination square and round in a 66 with a tach. Some like the crisper lines of the 66 and the clean, body with little trim. But some like the softer lines of the 65 and the more expensive metal grills and headlight treatment vs the plastic grills of the 66. The 65 2+2 was in lots of road tests and magazines and the Car and Driver test vs the Ferrari is legend. Almost 3 times the number of 65's were built vs 66. So there are pluses and minus for the 65 vs 66. Personally, I like the 66 overall a little better, having owned 2 of them, but I like 65's very much too. 64 2+2's have the lowest value of the model by a wide margin because no special engine and drivetrain was standard. You could get one with a 389 2 bbl. It was a trim option only. 67's are next, not allot of love for that model either. I think they are really cool, having owned a 428 HO 3 speed manual one. I think the loss of Tri-power hurt the car quite a bit in 67. Also the 67 Grand Prix, was a style leader that year. Good luck with your sale.
