Moroso 'Langer' pan

What are the benefits of the Moroso split rail pan? How is it better than a Canton or Milodon pan?

I have one on an engine I own. It's going in a tube chassis car, so fitment isn't an issue. But it would be nice if I could use this engine in my other car with a factory subframe too.

I just finished modifying the factory subframe and putting in a removable center tube. I really don't want to redo it to fit the pan.

Loved my Langer pan! Split it a few times to check pump, bearings etc. You won't go wrong. …. Eric.

I personally found the Moroso pan to fit quite a bit better than the Stef pan did.
There is no comparison between the Moroso and Canton/Milodon. Those are just stock type pans

I screwed up when I cut out the center of the cross member. I made it wide enough for the split rail pan, but I assumed the pan was centered on the engine, but it's not.

Guess I'll swap the pan and pickup if I ever put the engine in my factory subframe car.

My Stef's fit like crap around the timing cover. Everyone has their own experiences with products

There are around (3) versions of the "Langer" pan. The split pan was the result of crower having a bad run on lifters where they manufactured the wheels out of a material that was too hard. At the time, crower was the only manufacturer that would make lifters for a Pontiac that were .904 in diameter. Before the split pan, it would take me upwards of 3 hours to pull out the broken lifter, drop the pan, clean out all of the broken parts and put it back together. I lost a race due to not being able to fix it in time so I made a split pan. Now, I can change a lifter in around 45 minutes. Since I worked with Jessel on lifters, knock on wood, haven't had any issues.

The Stefs pan needs some additional baffling in the sump area if you're going to spin a big stroke "4.5" over 6800-7000 rpm.

You can get the Langer split pan with a few additional mods to fit a titan oil pump and both a robbmc "long" starter and a powermaster stubby.
