It depends on if your getting a deal. If both cars are equal, I would not do it. I certainly understand that you might be tired of what you have, and its time for a change. I think you will miss your TA. Looks, Style, Performance, Engineering, Nobody did it better that Pontiac in the early 70's.

A Ls6 is a killer car. They are probable worth about the same.

Love the ls6 chevelle, but not worth giving up a 73 sd455 for it. There's lots of them out there, 5000 I think made, plus all the clones. your's in a rare breed. You will regret it in the future.

Unless you're getting a low mileage, all original 4 speed car in excellent condition, I would hold back. |
Larry, If you find a suitable LS6 make SURE it has lots of documentation. The guy selling one could be the most honest person you'll ever meet and truly feel his car is real. He just isn't aware that half a dozen owners in the cars past is some guy who built it out of a small block Malibu.
And make sure the documentation itself is real. There was a place in TX years ago that would make you a protecto plate. The same place eventually started offering to make build sheets and I think went out of business shortly after for whatever reason. If you find something you have any doubt about please get ahold of me. I've had several LS6s over the years and am pretty familiar with what's real. Try posting on the Yenko site. Lots of Chevy guys there. |
yeah........I had a killer '70SS396 chevelle for 20 years.......basically traded it for my SD. Very smart move as far as desirability and investment potential, considering what both cars were worth 12 years ago.
Today, I figure both the SD and the LS6 are comparable as far as value and investment is concerned. Yes, the SD is quite rare in comparison but a LS6 is a highly prized vehicle in itself. In my opinion, I don't see an SD surpassing the LS6 in value anytime soon. Yeah......I miss my chevelle and having an LS6 would make owning another one a real blast. |

Why don`t you sell your T/A for cash? The last 73 SD T/As that i saw were all advertised for crazy money....i don´t know if they will really get these prices though...
...and YES, YOU ARE NUTS!!!! The T/A is the better car by a mile.... |

If you are going to sell a '73 SD...there are only a few cars that could serve as a capable replacement.
I think a well-documented LS6 is an excellent choice. Since you've owned an L34/L78 car in the past, I bet you know what to look for. Good luck in your search. |
