4 way hazard flashers

Does anyone know if 4 way hazard flashers were offered on a 65 A body? I believe that in 66 or 67 they were required by federal mandate. Just wondered if they were offered as an option in 65. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

I have a 4 way hazard flasher group of parts that I was told were correct for 1964 vehicle
so I assume that a Kit was also available for a 1965 A-Body vehicle.

I still have the parts in a safe spot 'somewhere'. LOL

I don’t believe they were stock from the factory. Dealers could install a kit, like Tom said. FlareStat is the one that comes to mind, although I know there were 2 different brands.

I had a 66 Caprice once that had one like this back in the early 70's. I would think Pontiac had the same? The knob would flash also.

They were optional on the 1965 B body. Only our 2+2 has the flasher and the other '65 big cars we have do not. Don't know if the flasher option made it to the A bodies?

The early 4-way flasher was an accessory kit that could be dealer installed or owner installed and was really a plug and play installation. These were made by Flarestat and offered through the various GM divisions. They were also available as aftermarket pieces and used on trucks and tractors as well as cars. Some of these even had logos on the pull knob such as the Chevy Bow Tie, GMC, IH (International Harvester) etc. A similar piece was offered by Roberk that was only available at retail stores.

From what I gather, from all the replies, that they were a dealer or owner installed option in 65. I have a flarestat unit like 64-3Duces shows in his second thumbnail. Looks easy enough to install. There were times I've had to pull to the side of the road and wish I had hazard flashers. Again thanks to all for the helpful replies.
