Early TA Hood 1970-71
 

Up for sale is an early 70-71 Trans Am hood. Has some surface rust that needs to be cleaned up but is a very solid hood. $1500 firm.

What is the date code?

Where do you find the date code on a hood?

I would like to know that as well.

The date code is on the underside of the hood on the passenger side. Here is a picture of the date code on my old 1971 Trans Am.

Mine says...or so I think I can read..5A.... 607

Is there a decoding process for this and the front fenders?

There are two dates on the hood. One denotes when the skin was stamped (A 6 21R) posted above) the other denotes when the inner substructural frame was stamped (B6-17).

So the sub-structure was stamped June 17 and the skin was stamped June 21.

The hood does have some light surface rust on the sub-structure.
