3" Super Turbos
1 Attachment(s)
I have always run turbos mufflers as opposed to the straight thru design and was looking at the 3" and noticed they DynoMax have a center/center and an offset/center ......knowing the design of the ST as it has 2 S-curves in their design ....how does the center/center or offset/center muffler design look?
I would think there would be a lot of cross-flow in the muffler and not very smooth like in the offset/offset mufflers. Going into an A-body the offset/offset works best in these cars/ What's your science behind it or opinion to support it. |
Any time there is a tube in the center of the body, the exhaust has to flow around the tube, or in other words, in the space between the tube and the body floor/ceiling. Unless the case is much larger, this would not flow as well as side/side.

Also with the ST 3" mufflers, there are 2 case sizes. In the smaller case, the internal tubes neck down to 2.5". In the larger case, they stay 3"

70GS, Yes, I see that there is a 3" muffler with a 20" case that has an offset/center configuration #17793 and a 16" case with an offset/offset both 11" wide and 5.5" high # 17792. I agree the offset/center would not flow as well.

Look up Spangenberg's 8 second Impala street car on youtube. He's running those Dynomax Super Turbo 3 inch mufflers. I would say they flow pretty good.
