Ignition switch re install issue
 

Re install issue. Mine locked up last weekend when hot as so many GTOs will. Finally got it unlocked. Took apart this am cleaned up the old cylinder . Did not really have a gouge at all . Outer tab seemed to drag as much as pin. Clipped one coil on pin spring.

Put it in the new housing since I got one and the key turned fine in and out but radio would not turn off etc when the key was out. New housing does not have the flat for the outer electronic ring to locate so thought maybe it was hanging it up. Put it all back in the old housing , re installed it ,pulled the key out and cylinder came out 1/8" Tab is not in its slot and even if I slip a small screw driver to push it up key won't turn or push back to get the tab in the slot.

Since key won't turn can't rotate it to push tab to release the whole deal.

Any ideas on 1) radio still on new housing, 2) how do I get the key to rotate again?

Haven't been here in awhile. I'm sure you've probably worked through this by now, but for general knowledge I've posted the TSB on this to my photobucket acct. Covers removal of stuck Cyl.
As far as the radio play, sounds like the timer/door trigger is not actuating when key is pulled. Might be something mechical in the new cyl, but darned if I know where to look. Sorry.
