Epic Craigslist Ad of the Day

Hoping the Mods will sticky this. Seeing how there is a plethora of funny craigslist ads, lets post the funny, rediculous and idiotic. Keep them clean though.

bonneville Joe 02-20-2010 10:43 PM

Wonder what it would fetch at Barrett/Jackson?

Well, you have to try and put a positive spin on the p.o.s. some way, don't you? lol

Dens71TA 02-21-2010 12:26 AM

My parents bought one of those brand new. It was the "performance" GSE model. I don't even think it was $9950 new. It was such a POS it had to be bought back by GM under the lemon law ....

hey that thing is right around the corner of me if anyone is truly interested in it. :pound:

se428bandit 02-21-2010 01:08 PM

And GM is wondering why they are having problems today.Who at GM thought it was a good idea to import some Ko-rean crap to sell here.I remember seeing one those things for the 1st time and seeing the Lemans name on that POS.:gag:

F ROCK 02-21-2010 03:16 PM

i met a beautiful girl at a club in the 90's, she said she had a lemans. wow. i said me too.
walked her out to her car for a kiss goodnite.
i'm sayin wheres the lemans?
she says here. my jaw dropped.
i blurted out "this is what they did to the lemans?" "i hope they dont make a GTO outta this"
i saw her again and showed her a real lemans.
now she's the mother of one of my kids; we arent together now but we laugh about this sometimes...
btw: it ran good but eventually bursted into flames.

stevep 02-21-2010 05:53 PM

Didn't know these were so rare...

Rocky Racoon 02-23-2010 08:26 PM

Now I know the secret for selling on Craigslist. It probably will work on that popular auction site too. Just add the word "rare" to the description and ask for big bucks.

mike nixon 02-23-2010 09:31 PM

And misspell the wording and use ebonics.

Just ended. $610 and doesn't meet the reserve.

Let's put this into some kind of perspective. In Sept. 2006, I paid $950 for a 1990 Grand Am with 73,000 miles and working a/c, not 273,000 miles like that POS. I still have the car. The difference is I thought and still think the car is also a disposable car that was probably worth like $800-$850, but I needed another car and there it was.

So, a little shy of his original asking price of $9950. Yet, $610 is still 4x what it's worth...

People see a Judge convertible get $300K, so heck an 89 Lemans (hey, it's only 20 years newer than a 69!) must be worth $10K! So, I'll give people a bargain and price it a little less.

bonneville Joe 03-01-2010 07:50 PM

I noticed in the craigslist ad he dropped it to a bargain of only $6000. Shoot, with a Maaco $200 paint job it'll be a $40,000 show car.

428RA4 03-01-2010 08:00 PM

Im about to piss my pants reading this thread.

No, to be at the $40K level, he would have to cobble up and install a Judge-like spoiler. Now, if he added a cool side stripe, he could call Barrett-Jackson.

bonneville Joe 03-03-2010 03:22 PM

Geez, this guy must be related to the LeMans guy. I didn't know blue POS '89 Pontiacs were all the rage now.

That's an 87 T/A junker for $9500. He takes off the 9 and it's priced right.

Psychiatric wards could recruit new patients from craiglist car ads.

bonneville Joe 03-03-2010 06:08 PM

I'm always on there looking for parts and cars and treasures. At the bare minimum they are always good for a laugh. I can't believe what people think things are worth, and the horrible spelling and grammar is awesome..

Sounds like a great guy to be around. For about 3 minutes. After that I wouldn't want him all up in my bizniss. He manged to get every low rent colloquialism known to man in just a few sentences.

This thread will be awesome. I'm on a boat board and we have one there, it's hilarious!

This one is cheap and all, but if it "ran beautifully" when he parked it, why did he park it at all?

Pontiac LeMans - $200 (Manakin, Goochland)

One of the old vintage "power cars". Ran beautifully last time I drove it, but that was back in 1995. It has been sitting since then, so it is not in drivable condition. Good for a restoration, or to use for difficult to find parts. Cars from this vintage that are still in fairly good condition are hard to find, so whether it's fixed up to run or to use for parts, it could be valuable to someone with an interest in this type car. Call Mike at or reply by email.

Those Indians must have been built like Arnold if they could put a rock that big on the end of a stick and swing it.

80% restored? It's a mess. SS? Yeah, the 350 is a small block too. In one week, he's going to restore that basket case? Sheesh! Amazing ad.

But since the seller doesn't have the skills to restore it, he'll just 'give it away' for $4500 now.

You know when someone uses the term "ONLYTHANG" to describe a car, you know that you're dealing with a respected member of the community, one who has a fine appreciation of the English language and a person with whom you'll enjoy a professional business transaction.

LOL!

Thank God it was a 4-door, not an '81 Lemans coupe. ONLYTHANG I would want off that is the dog house.
Needs to look into why that speedomnator doesn't work.
