Already booked a room!!
|
Yeah, I think I will make this one this year. It will probably be tight though, I still have a bunch of stuff to do yet....
. |
Booked our room for this today. First time I am going up there in a long time. We are staying at a water resort for my kids and then going to Dollywood on Sunday.
|
Anyone know what the total registered cars are for these shows?
. |
I don’t know but that’s a good question. As far as registered cars go I watch my classic car weekly and I am surprised that I have never seen this shoe or run in the sun in Myrtle beach featured. The Run in the Sun is huge
|
I found the info, for 2017, there were 242 registered cars.
As for coverage, it's a matter of who sponsors the show covering. If it's sponsored by one of the big 3, you will see it on shows like that. It's a money thing. . |
I have never been to this show before but I just booked my room for Friday and Saturday. I am hoping there will be some 64s there that I can get some ideas from. Is this a decent size show or is it just average? How is the swap meet?
|
If everything goes to plan I will bring a 64 GTO

I haven’t been for ten years but the swap was very small back then. Hopefully it is better now and maybe someone who’s been lately will chime in.
|
I'll be there with my 74 Formula 455...Arriving on Thursday. Hoping to find some info from locals on my car's twin sister, (My signature photo) last seen in Knoxville, TN in Summer of 1976. How cool would it be for that car to have survived and some local Pontiac enthusiast show up with it at the show?

Looking forward to this show. Bringing the whole family but only my wife and I will actually be enjoying the cars. My sister is gonna babysit my girls at the water park hotel we booked. Would love to see a 64 Tempest but not holding my breath. The only Tempest I have ever seen in all my years of car shows was a ratty teal regular Tempest convertible.
|
Their FB page said yesterday that they already had over 185 cars pre registered! When I attended a couple of years ago the swap meet was very small because there was not enough space. I understand the show is moving next year to a bigger space.
If you are not staying at the host hotel I hope you are staying close enough to walk. There will be practically no spectator parking available. Another good reason to move. The show is down in a hole with some grassy spaces beside the river. Unless you are lucky enough to get there early enough to get one of those spaces, you're car will be on asphalt and there is no air circulating. Usually hot and humid, but anywhere in the south is the same this time of the year. It is a great show for a good cause and keeps growing. I see it really blooming when it moves next year. |
Jerry,
I'm going to trailer my car up and plan to get there Thursday mid-day. I'm staying at the host hotel. I'm told that there is trailer parking directly across the street in the big grass field. If I get there by mid-day on Thursday do you think I'll be early enough to get a trailer parking spot and a decent spot for the Firebird? BJ |

Not staying at the host hotel but I really can’t see the parking situation being worse than Myrtle beach. Where is the hotel in relation to the strip? Always park at a business and walk
