Anyone spray clear over a ratty body?

I had a guy spray clear over my 55 Chevy, brought it from a dull look to more of a satin. Anyone else ever try doing this to their vehicle? Attachment 551657

Actually considering doing this to my maroon and white 69 C10 pickup, after I replace the rusted floors, rockers, etc.

Lindsead oil is how they make them really shine.

Why? Unless you are after a ratty looking car and body, with a slight sheen.

Barn find look. I like it too.

FWIW.......I have been doing hand painted pinstriping and lettering for 35 years as a business. I have also lettered and striped quite a few old cars, trucks, rat rods, with the barn find patina. After the art work is done I go over it with light sand paper and steel wool to give it that patina / weathered look as well. In my eyes, putting a high gloss clear over a vehicle that has patina looks terrible! It defeates the purpose of the whole look. Satin or flat clear is the way to go.
