1968 Pontiac Cop Cars - Catalina Freeway Enforcer

I'm looking for some help on the 1968 Pontiac Catalina cop cars.

From what I understand, during that era (late 60s) Pontiac offered the B07 "Highway Patrol" option as well as a B09 Freeway Enforcer. For lack of better words, the B07 was more of a medium-duty package where the B09 was a heavy duty, high-powered pursuit car.

For 1967, as I understand per Pontiac literature, the L79 428-4V 360hp was available in both the 092/B07 Highway Patrol Catalina and 094/B09 Freeway Enforcer Catalina. Meanwhile, the L75 428-4V HO 376hp engine was only available in the 094/B09 Freeway Enforcer.

What I'm trying to figure out is whether it was the same deal in 1968. For that year, Pontiac offered the L83 428-4V 360hp and L75 428-4V HO 390hp in police package cars. The question is, was the L83 available in both the 092/B07 Highway Patrol as well as the 094/B09 Freeway Enforcer? My assumption is yes. Likewise, was the L75 only available with the Freeway Enforcer?

Hoping the Pontiac experts can help! THANK YOU KINDLY.

Very interesting, do you have any photos of the old chasers ?
Did they run wider rims and big brakes ?

These forms should give you a bit of an idea what was available back then. Bottom line is that police package cars typically had different specs ... like HD suspension, brakes, cooling, wheels, seats and so forth.

Police package cars also differed among manufacturer and model. Sometimes the specs even varied among models. For instance, the 1967 Pontiac B07 Highway Patrol wasn't as heavy duty as the B09 Freeway Enforcer cars.

In other words, different specifications for different applications.

Very cool - Koni adjustable shocks were a factory available option!!! Has anyone ever come across a set on an original car?

The Koni shocks were only available on Firebirds
$52.66 option

Have only seen 2 cars with them on their PHS
Unknown if the original shocks were still on those cars.

I don't remember if i have ever seen a picture of what those shocks looked like in 1968.
Almost seems like they were pictured in the sales literature somewhere.
Think they were a 1 year only option
