float adj. ?

I can't seem to get both the level and drop to the right measurement. If I adj. for drop the level is wrong. , and vice versa..
What am I doing wrong. They are the correct brass floats.

Thanks, Dave

Look at your instructions closer. You don't adjust both by bending at the same point.

pfilean is correct. You bend the little tab on the swivel end of the float to set float drop. You bend the portion of the float arm nearest the float to set float level. Additionally, sometimes, you have to bend that portion nearest the float to make it perpendicular to the needle body, so you're not pushing the needle at an angle. This is not usually necessary, unless you're using a new float that has never been adjusted.

Remember, do not put pressure on the needle/seat when making the adjustments.

Also, if the adjustment for float height seems way off, some manufacturers send multiple valve seat gaskets of different thicknesses. Try one of the other valve seat gaskets. ALWAYS best to NOT bend on the float unless one has to do so.
