73' Green trans am on BAT:

I like the Brewster green paint. You hardly ever see a green Trans am, at least I haven't. It needs some front-end body work among other things. Thoughts?

Sat for years it seems to acquire lots of surface rust (or was once submerged in a flood from a hurricane - ha). Few things it has going for it is that is a Brewster Green paint car and maybe numbers matching perhaps. I dig the interior color too.

Automatic kills it for me but beggars can't be choosey if they want a Brewster Green T/A. I see it maybe hitting $55K?

Others what is your guess?

kingbuzzo 02-27-2024 07:11 PM

Oh wow...very desirable as far as 73's go these days

Formulabruce 02-27-2024 10:35 PM

This always says a LOT.. " acquired by the seller in 2024"

Baron Von Zeppelin 02-27-2024 10:38 PM

Needs to show the full document from where it was bought in 1976 , instead of partial.
It should show mileage on that document.

Needs good pictures of brake and gas pedals.

Its either in pretty great shape for 126,000 miles
Or almost pitiful for 26,000 miles

Some things look one way , and some another.
Appears to be some blisters starting on lower quarters

Always a chance 3 guys get really horny about it. Can't predict those events anymore.

I agree that amount of fairly widespread surface rust is a bit worrisome, especially in a Florida car.

Also agree that "acquired in '24" is a bad sign. Quick flip of a flood car they got a good deal on.

65madgoat 02-28-2024 01:01 AM

Car was in Illinois for decades....only now in Florida this year per seller comments.

Still cool as I think it is accepted just around ~1,000 Brewster Green Trans Ams were made.

1967gto1 02-29-2024 12:55 PM

Only 146 Brewster green 1973 T/A's and that includes S/D Trans ams.

Baron Von Zeppelin 02-29-2024 01:22 PM

That sounds like a Canadian / GM of Canada import factoid .

No way its that low for full production total.

edit : not shooting the messenger - just saying
Sumfin ain't right with that .

nas t eh 02-29-2024 03:03 PM

There are more green ones today, than left the factory.

65madgoat 03-01-2024 12:03 AM

That 146 number is quoted online wrong.

4800 Trans Ams offered in 3 colors in 1973.

At least 1,000 are presumed built with Brewster Green paint. Maybe more. Not just 146.

Baron Von Zeppelin 03-01-2024 01:03 AM

Yes
If it is any kind of actual official fact - it has to be from GM of Canada
They can compute their distribution.

No one has ever presented any PMD documentable giblets as to 73 TA colors.
Or all 3 colors would have their 1 of (blank) color status mentioned for the last past decades in every for sale listing..

Its fake news

1967gto1 03-01-2024 08:00 AM

Sorry, I just googled it and it came back with the 146 number. I didn't search through documents and press releases, etc...

X2

My favorite is when people claim they only made 146 of em. When I owned mine, I heard that one a lot. lol

Baron Von Zeppelin 03-01-2024 12:07 PM

Evidently the seller found the same google result.
Either way , some guys are sure getting spendy about the car.

kingbuzzo 03-01-2024 12:47 PM

My buddy is killing himself not to buy this one so I binged it:

According to the web search results, there were 1,296 Brewster Green 1973 Pontiac Trans Ams with the Super-Duty 455 engine, and only 146 with the standard 455 enginehttps://www.motortrend.com/features/hppp-0710-1973-pontiac-trans-am-super-duty/https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/1973-74-pontiac-firebird-formula-and-trans-am-sd-455. The Super-Duty 455 was a near-race-spec engine that featured many unique parts and produced 290 hp and 390 lb-ft of torquehttps://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/1973-74-pontiac-firebird-formula-and-trans-am-sd-455https://www.autoevolution.com/news/1973-pontiac-trans-am-sd-455-the-muscle-car-golden-age-s-last-high-performance-legend-227433.html. The Super-Duty 455 was also available as an option on the Firebird Formula, but only 43 were made in 1973 and 58 in 1974

So...the plain jane 455 is rare according to this but hard to believe they made more SD's in that jade shade...however I figured an actual expert would have chimed in by now...

1296 BG with SD in 73 ......... out of 252 total TA's with SD in 73
How does that math work ?

I'm seeing some distortion
1296 is the full combined total of SD production in 73 and 74 - Formy & TA

73 Trans-Am brewster green
Apr 14, 2011 — There were 146 Brewster Green Trans Am's made in 1973, 7 of which had the SD 455 engines. Two were destroyed in the movie McQ starring John Wayne

That is Fake News , and probably the root of the whole mess.
The number of 73 SD in Bgreen is at least around 30-40 ,,,,,, not 7

Baron Von Zeppelin 03-01-2024 01:46 PM

The only place those numbers would make any sense is at GM of Canada
Rocky Rotella might could look into that source and verify.

Otherwise they would be pulled out of thin air .

It was from a Trans Am site quite a while back, the guy was a collector.

Okay .
Very Official , maybe they should write a whole book about it.

Only one TA was destroyed in the making of McQ.
