1992 Firebird Formula drag roller
I've decided to sell my Firebird. After the engine issues I had last year and the loss of my local track my racing has come to a stop. I don't have the time or place anymore to run two cars.
Here is the original ad from when I bought it. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...66#post5579466 More pics from the original owner here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wpy1gujtv...FpjObkfpa?dl=0 Everything is the same except the driver's seat which is now a Kirkey aluminum pro street with a Ed Quay seat bracket and gray cover. I also added a couple of gauges. I have the custom 2" round port headers to go with it. Also an extra set of front wheels and tires. The rear tires have about 10 runs on them. The paint is 90% original and a rare color. The power windows, locks and hatch still work. The car hooks every time and drives very nice. I also have the left over engine parts that will be for sale once the car sells or I can make a package deal. Only things that need to be fixed are the control box for the headlight motors and I would upgrade the fuel system if going to run a big motor. Still has the factory tank with a upgraded in tank pump and lines from the original TPI motor. $15,000 or bo. You could not build this car for that price and in a weekend you could drop in a motor and go racing. Car is located in Middlesex County NJ |

I'm not a player but what did it run?
|
I have seen this car in person and it is first rate. Nice car. GLWS

Weight? Chassis cert?
|
With me on board and half a tank of fuel the car weighed around 3300 lbs. The best I got it to run was 9.44@144. It probably could have done a little better with more tuning but I didn't have my license and was going to run 10.00 index anyway so I left it alone. The cage was certified to 8.50 but has expired. I see no reason it should not certify again.
The Picketts in PA did all the work building the car. It has been to Norwalk a couple of times and was going to featured in High performance Pontiac magazine for the pavement pounders article but the magazine closed up before the story was printed. |
Still for sale. I would like to see the car back on the track again instead of holding down the garage floor.

This could be a nice Christmas present for somebody.
I can make a package deal for everything I have for the car. I would like to see this go before the new year. Here's a video from the pavement pounders article 2013 @ Norwalk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X68UydOmK8k |
Offers ?
I have plans of starting my own business and selling this will help me out. I would like to see this car go to a good Pontiac home. Next stop is racing junk... |
Still available. Willing to package everything together. IA1 block, headers, sheet metal intake, etc.
Besides being a nice race car it is a really nice 3rd gen. No rust anywhere, 90% original paint. And it's rare. Depending on who's numbers you go by they only made 1,017 or 1,052 Formulas in 92. |

Some more pictures.
There's some nice engines for sale on here. Buy one and this car and be racing in a couple weekends. |
Some family health issues have come up and this car needs to go.
$12,000 car only. $13,500 with the block, headers, sheet metal intake, carbs, everything I have for the car. Bottom dollar prices. |
That's a good deal.
|
Still available.
|
Still here.

Still available.
Don't make me put a BBC or worse an LS in it to sell it. :gag: |
That time again.
Been looking at LS and BBC engines. |
That time again.

Can you list exactly what engine parts you have that are salvageable?
Or which engine parts are not salvageable if that is easier. |
The block is good but will need a bore. I had it sonic checked and magged. Came back good. The crank is probably junk as the snout will need work because of the balancer issue. Probably not worth fixing.
To get the engine back together it would need a crank, bore and hone, pistons, cam, heads, valve train, balancer. Depending on the heads used the intake should be usable. Not sure how the ports would line up with an Edelbrock or a HP head. The only parts I don't have anymore are the rockers (sold) and the balancer since I had to cut it off to remove it. I have all the other old parts and all the hardware for the engine. I had every intention of fixing the engine and racing it again then my track closed up. So I kinda lost interest in racing. |
