1973/ 1974? Grand Am 4 speed...
 

Visited a close friend who collects everything... This was one of 'them' sitting at his place... No rot.. Nose cone is shot...

Please note: I am not 'fishing'.. as the car, like all of his cars, is not for sale. I saw it and took pics of it just for those members who like and appreciate these cars...

Welcome... Here's a few more....

In case you're wondering, the quick way to tell it's a 74 Grand Am is by looking at the grilles. 74 has horizontal slats in the grilles. On the rear, it has a chrome bumper.
The 75 GA looks the same, but has vertical slats in the grilles and the rear bumper is painted.
And the 73 GA is different from the 74-75's. The 73 nose has 6 openings, whereas the 74-75's have 12 openings. And the 73 tail lights are much different too. There are other differences on the 73's, but those are most obvious.

The 74 has always been my favorite...maybe because my first new car was the one I bought back in 1974. I traded a 69 GTO on it. The GA was supposed to be the new GTO, with more comfort and luxury added to it. Compared to earlier model cars, they drove and handled extremely well. The 400 or 455 were adequate, but far short of the pre-smog cars from earlier. Today, you can correct that.

They are hard to find now days and restoration can be expensive and difficulty. I would love to find one restored or excellent original. Prices according to Old cars is not high, but many owners place a much higher price on them that actual sales reflect.

You will find that Old Cars is partial to some other GM cars. The pricing on the 73 GTO's & Grand Ams are very low to what you can really buy them for. The 73 GTO is low by more then 1/2 of what you can really buy one for. The snobs that write that book don't & have never though much of the 73-77 GM A-Body cars, in the past or now & you'll see in the future.

Looks to be very original. The shifter knob is original. Love the honeycombs.

What year is the GSX?

Yeah, the honeycombs are sweet! I had them on mine back in 74.

That is a 1970 QQ code (Saturn Yellow) GSX Stage 1 4 speed with mostly original paint. I think it has 68,000 or 86,000 miles on it. All numbers match, pretty loaded with options (tilt, consolette, shorty console, PW, PDB, AC, ? PDL). Has documentation, etc. Very clean, original car. Hasn't seen sunlight in at least 8 years..

If you look behind it, there's a 69 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed (older frame off), in front of it is a decent 68 GS 400 hardtop, the mirror you see, which looks red on the right side of the photo, is a Flame Red 72 Buick Stage 1, under the cover directly behind it is a 71 or 72 Stage 1 convertible... There are 8 other cars in that storage tent.. :)

Hi all,

Figured I would post a follow up from this almost 2 year post. I decided to pull the trigger on this one. I can say the first time I saw it at my friends farm I knew I would end up buying it. It's different, but cool? Kinda an ugly duckling - just different from everything else. Plus, I dig the 4 speed and the honeycombs.. With the silver and red. The owner was picking up one of his cars and said "hell... I'm just going to load it up one day and dump it in your driveway". I don't expect it here anytime soon, but it will be here. I will be asking MANY questions to those of you that know these cars... :)
