Guys, does anyone sell these plastic liners for the window trim. Thanks

I havent seen them. They will slide out if youre carefull. I salvage what was left of the ones I am working on right now. I dont have them on my 77. I think they are a water shield, giving the way the window channels rust I dont think they make any difference.

i havent seen them repro'd either, just salvage whats there.

pretty sure they were intended to keep the metal from actually touching the glass, dont see any real water shield ability from them.

They keep the moldings off the glass and limit vibration. The long strips are not available, but a variation is available in the form of several smaller clip inserts. A guy on ebay sells them and are sky blue. I just spent 20 min searching and couldn't find the ad although saw it several days ago. I also did a review of them a few years ago with photos on the forums, again, couldn't find it.

The inside front and rear moldings also have their own variation of strip, in black or clear over the years, usually missing.

Not to be argumentative, but to me they look like they could do double duty. The way the flap lays on the body would act like a gasket to keep water from getting under the strip ( not saying it worked, just looks like that's what it should be doing). I could see more of a need to TRY and keep water out as opposed to the metal hitting the body. I dont have them on my 77 and the trim doesn't really contact the body.

its not for hitting the body, its for the glass. to keep it off the glass & stop any squeaks, vibrations, or wearing on the glass.

the plastic strip doesn't run the entire length of the trim & if you look at the trim installed it has gaps between the body & the glass, there is no sealing ability of the strip IMO, water will get behind the strip regardless of the plastic piece.

Yea, i went and put the piece on my current project. I see what youre saying. I was thinking that the overlap part of the rubber strip was against the body side of the trim. Now that i looked closely I see your point. I always thought it was there as some kind of a water stop that obviously didn't work.
