Plan on staying the entire week this year.

cruisin' the coast

I will be there all week at the Cajun RV Park on Hwy90. Always a great time

J.C.you 09-01-2017 07:55 AM

May swing through there. Tried to get a couple spots but sold out. Will be at camp journeys end near 10.

My wife and I spend the entire week there! It is a MUST to go. If you can't make the whole week, the later in the week the better, and the last Saturday of Crusin the Coast is always the biggest day. Over 8,000 registered cars this year and at least as many cruising that aren't registered.

J.C.you 08-26-2018 08:55 PM

Going back this year. Hopefully no hurricane this event.

I need to do this next year (will be retired and have the time). Any suggestions on where to stay? I have a ToyHauler but can't pull the trailer and my car at the same time! LOL I will be coming from Florida. Looking for hotel sites that would be reasonable and safe.

BTW I was "on the ground" 2 days after Katrina in Pass Christian and Waveland helping with relief efforts. Saw this and it made me think about what I would do if I had a hurricane forecast for a direct hit.

The last 20 years of Cruisin The Coast have generally been rain free, dry, and cool temps. I actually stayed in my travel trailer 2 1/2 blocks off the Gulf when the hurricane in 2017 made landfall. No big deal. I knew it was weak compared to others I have been in or I would have moved the trailer like my wife was insisting on, so I stayed there to make my point that it didn't need to be moved. No issues, at all.

Book ASAP! Do your research and get on it or you won't get a room. Anywhere between Bay St. Louis and Biloxi on the coast will be fine. I would suggest Gulfport, but ON the coast highway. You can also check availability at the Silver Slipper casino hotel in Waveland.

Yeah, I left the Friday before it hit but my buddy stayed through. We were on the ocean springs end.

Just over 3 weeks away!!
I just got the 3 Rochester 2bbl carbs back from All American Carburetors. They look great, and once I install them I am hoping they run as good as they look.
I will say that I may have rather gone with the Pontiac Tripower guys, or someone recommended on this forum only because the Pontiac Tripower article says they have other than stock jetting available, which I thought AAC would have, but Bill at AAC said that some of those jets up from stock are "hard to find" so he left my current jets in. The center carb has 61 and the outboard carbs have 68 jets. With the build level of the 421, which I included all of the details when I sent the carbs to AAC, the only way (or best way for me) to get a handle on the A/F ratio and carb performance is to put the car on a nearby shop's mustang chassis dyno and run it through the gears and various throttle positions and see what the sniffers say. At that point I will have a better idea if the jets need changing.
With $800 in UMI rear suspension parts being installed, replacing all of the upper and lower control arms and adding the horizontal rear shock tower brace and control arm pivot points bracket to the new upgraded Quick Performance Ford 9" based 3.80 geared TrueTrack posi rear axle assembly, the 421GOAT should be quite the ride, and the Wilwood 4 wheel disc brakes replacing factory 4 wheel drum system should slow it back down nicely.
I also have to install and tune my 3 2bbl Holley carbs coming back from Promax with about $750 in upgraded parts on them

Nice build avman: have to check it out, holler and we'll get together. You going to register or just attend?

avman 09-08-2018 10:00 AM

Register!
I was surprised that I hadn't prepaid and registered ahead of time.
We have registered our 2 cars for the last 4 years. Too many venues that restrict access for non-registered cars, so we never gave not registering a thought.

Glad to see some locals out there. We'll be out there as well :drive:

My daughter will be working at the PhotoSports USA trailer again this year. Stop by and check out your pictures and say "Hi" to Jaimie.

avman 09-18-2018 04:02 PM

Cool! I will be sure to do that.
Really nice service with high quality photos, and a nice memento of the event.

avman 09-18-2018 04:04 PM

Rochesters installed and fired up. All GTO parts seem to have shipped or been received! Trailering GTO over to suspension and brake shop early tomorrow morning.
Less than 2 weeks to go!

J.C.you 09-24-2018 10:08 PM

Taking two cars. Will go by and get a pic of the ET car taken and say hi to your daughter.

Wilwood front 12.19" disc brakes, Wilwood master cylinder and Line Lock installed.
Heading to the shop tomorrow. Balance of parts were delivered Monday and the last parts delivered were 3 way adjustable drag shocks from Competition Engineering and MOOG stock height NON-Progressive rear springs.
Hoping to see great progress tomorrow.
Less than a week until Crusin the Coast!

The LAST "wrenching" on the 421GOAT is done!! I had an occasional problem with the starter refusing to do anything if the motor killed while hot. It was sporadic, but ALWAYS when it happened it would take about 20 minutes, no more, no less with the hood open letting heat escape and then VOILA! the starter would operate normally. I checked the 2 wires that run down from the harness and all connections were good, and there is a fat, red insulated hot wire run to the big post on the starter from the + post of the battery.
I installed a POWERMASTER 9510 that Clausen Racing had IN STOCK (thanks Clausen Racing!) and I also used a fibre mesh heat insulator covering over the length of the 2 small wires mentioned, and heat shrinked the ends....
Works great! Hopefully no more problems!

Registered yesterday at cruise central. This place is already packed. Pics don't do any justice of how many cars are here.
