Rear speaker wiring

1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone still have the OEM rear stereo speakers in their 74-77 Lemans or GP?

I am trying to replace the original rear speakers in my '77 Lemans and I need the correct speaker wiring.

The scan below is from the '77 shop manual. I have the single brown and blue wires in my car but no ground wires. Someone cut the speaker connectors off. Diagram shows a ground wire being grounded I assume somewhere near the speaker? The '77 B bodies had the ground going to the radio but the A and G didn't.

Can someone take a look at their speakers and please tell me where the ground wire goes? A pic of what the wiring looks like would be very helpful.

My 73 GTO only has the 2 wires , speaker chassis is the ground. No separate ground wire

Tried grounding the speaker to the body with the positive radio feed wire hooked up and it didn't work....ran a jumper from the neg terminal to ground and it worked.

I just want to know how the factory did it.

On my 1976 Cutlass, they used a "floating" ground. Neg terminal of the speaker had a short lead and eyelet grounded to one of the speaker screws or to a screw in the metal package tray. Don't remember which, but no ground wire between the radio and the speakers.
