Fixing Dents in 1970 GTO Endura Bumper
 

Hello,

Fixed a pretty big dent that lifted up the bottom of Endura Bumper with a Jack,chain and a hook. It's is still off a bit on left side, on top and bottom.

Any advice on getting it to line up with the grille better. Was using hammer and small sledge, but don't want to damage it. Is heating up a bad idea?

Also is it okay to use a little bondo or do you recommend something else?

Bondo won't flex. You need something like 3M 5896.

No heat.

If the area is tweaked it is the steel frame inside that is bent and you will need much pounding with a sledge and block of wood or bottle jack to get it moved back. Any damage to the rubber can be fixed with the flex repair epoxy.

I recommend you read some threads about best practices for Endura repair, especially concerning epoxy primer. SPI is recommended by many.

Oh, you won't hurt it.
By the way, the full weight of my truck on that bowed rail did not move it even an inch. I eventually got the bow out by cutting partway through the rail, bending it where I wanted it and welding the cut.
The second method, with the chain, did get the nose pulled out about where I wanted it.

WOW!! That should've been one of Pontiacs commercials. I would think that thing should be flat.

I used a dump truck on the farm in 1989. :D Barely flexed it. A local guy had a press with 20 ton bottle jack in the frame and we blocked the bumper best we could and forced it past straight. After it rebounded the and with a little tweaking the bumper was good enough to use again.
