70 Van Nuys Trans Am undercoating

Hey Guys, are the Van Nuys Firebirds undercoated in the rear /4 panels ???
And do they use the front inner fender panel rubber shields ????

Do you mean between the wheelwell and the chassis rail?

Yes

Yes and Yes.
Fisher indicated use of "body shutz" type undercoating for SOUND reasons
In the rear wheel wells which are like a giant megaphone inside the car at rear seat. All Firebirds, '70 to '81. Were supposed to get this in production.
Have had 3 Calif built 1970 birds. All had the rubber apron stapled on the front inner . 2 of these cars went to Nevada when Built.

The rubber shields on the front wheel houses were a 70 only thing. Norwood cars are installed from the tire side and VN cars from the engine compartment side.

Norwood is correct about the side of the wheel well. It is the same rubber shield, just installed differently at each plant. The rubber shields were however continued through most of ‘71 however. My ‘71 04A Norwood car has them. I think they were deleted very late in the year like maybe June. I’ll have to see if can find a break point. No ‘72 or later cars got them. A victim of cost saving.

I wasn't referring to the large stapled splash shields on the engine bay side, but the squares lower down where the guards rubbed or similar. Not sure which the OP was referring to.

Giles has seen most of my Firebirds, a few years back. Both '71's are Van Nuys builds. The 12D has the rubber splash guards and the 05D does not.
Also, my '70 VN has the guards on the top side, as Norwood stated.
