What are They?

Have a pair of unmarked brackets in a parts box. Can anyone identify?

How big is the hole?
Possibly hold down/holders for ignition wire clips on valve covers? |
They kind of look like firewall brackets that hold wiring harness in place. Correction. The mounting hole is too big to be those.
Rethinking the one on the left looks like a broken off tab for securing tranny dipstick tube to back of motor. |
Thanks guys but I have the a 3 Spd manual, and the plug wire holders and firewall clamps are accounted for.
The hole is 1/2" diameter |
Look like wire holders for reverse light wiring on trans
|
Ill have to check the Assembly Manual. Or perhaps the speedo cable to motor mount for the Dearborn trans?
|
I've been all over my car and not saying everything is still there as built but I've never seen those that I can recall.
|
Never seen them.
But if i did, they were clearcoat and had melted black rubber on the blank ends. |
With that big of a hole, I'd say it went on the bolts that bolt the engine mount. They may have been used to keep the wire(s) for starter away from exhaust.
(brackets basically to run starter wires above mount?) Some later years had something like that, not sure on 67. :) |
Should have said 1968 for above.
:( |
I looked again at the assembly manual particularly around the motor / trans mount but didn't see anything. But, since its for the 69 it won't show how the wiring for the 68 back up lamp switch is run. For the time being I'm going to assume these clips / brackets, due to the size of the hole, attach to the bell housing bolts and route the back up lamp wiring down the driver side of the bell housing.
Thanks to all. |
