?? at $175K : I dont know where I'd be about the finish look Quality is good the Punisher on the door panels is neat

Sirrotica 09-11-2019 08:22 AM

They could have done it to a Chevelle, and then the engine would have been correct for the body. There is lots of work, but $175 K, not a fan of green anyway.

eric65 09-11-2019 08:33 AM

agree would have been better on a chev
Is that a "Big Block" in yer Pontiac

389 09-11-2019 08:35 AM

No, waste of a nice car...

Tom Vaught 09-11-2019 09:12 AM

Everyone does their own thing.

I am doing my own thing with installing custom Chrysler Convertible Leather Power Seats in my 64 GTO (with the proper Head Rests and Shoulder Belt designed into the seats). These seats are several levels safer vs the 64 Factory seats.

Safety for me is a big thing with all of the idiots out there. I can always rebuild/buy another 64 GTO / LeMans/ or even a Tempest.
I want to be able to survive the situation.

I don’t like it, but can be fixed easily enough. The price is about $165,000 too high for my tastes.

Cardo 09-11-2019 12:49 PM

Same here... i love '65's but that ruins it for me. I like them stock. That's a hard pass for me.

Tom Vaught 09-11-2019 12:57 PM

I like to drive my car when I can, never trying to sell it.

Do not care about car shows or necessarily being same as it was in 1964.
(I owned the car then) no need to go BACK to those days again.

BUT each to his own.

Tom V.

ps I would never pay the price he was asking anyway.

The Champ 09-11-2019 06:47 PM

From the listing:

"YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED AT THIS PRICE."

He's right, I won't be disappointed. I'm shocked.

If I was going to spend $175,000.00 on a car, it wouldn't look like that. And as Sirrotica posted, do the same thing with a Chevelle if you're going to put a 350 in it. It still wouldn't be worth $175,000.00 to me though.

Dick Boneske 09-11-2019 09:56 PM

I don't believe he'll see a bid higher than $50K.

Tenney 09-12-2019 10:56 AM

Restomods bring more than originals often times these days. This is a pretty focused build, though, and so wants for someone who humors that aesthetic.

JC455 09-12-2019 03:35 PM

Ummmm.... Ditch the motor and the 'custom' installed computer- after that, you have a shell to build off of. Also, you can keep the door panels.
IMO, all the parts that're listed as 'upgrades' in the ad are the cheapest, low-buck crap he could find. He could've gone full Global West, SpeedTech, SPC, SC&C, etc. and had an incredible suspension/brake package. Even at MSRP pricing, those systems would all have come in under $10K for the super-duper setup.
Interior? Everything needs to be replaced.
Drivetrain? Needs one
Paint and body? Needs a lot.
Wheels? I'm fine with the big rims, but they serve a purpose: to allow BIG rotors. This poor thing has Chinese versions of GM brakes. We've all had to use foreign-sourced parts, but this thing is dripping in them.
Trim, Chrome, Grilles, etc? Looks like everything has been scuffed and painted... Makes it look really cheap and shabby.

Honestly? I'd say it's a sub-$10K starting point for a decent performing/looking street car.

GTOnly70 09-12-2019 09:39 PM

Gross.

60sstuff 09-13-2019 11:29 AM

Ugly.

Anybody can built a Restomod if you have the money.

Try to find a legit Factory Survivor of “Any Brand Automobile” is a taller task.

Chris.

BOB VIDAN 09-13-2019 11:55 AM

Try to find a legit Factory Survivor of “Any Brand Automobile” is a taller task, or a good VP.

beertracker 09-13-2019 12:05 PM

I wouldn't do that to a GTO.

Rich-Tripower 09-13-2019 02:28 PM

I have never been a real fan of "theme" cars. I'm also not a fan at all of flat or satin paint. Cars should be shiny. And if you ARE going to drop a Chevy engine in it (a Pontiac engine would be a much better idea here) at least drop in a meaningful engine and not just a run of the mill crate 350 with a "cam". Even an LS engine would be a much better fit for the theme and style could even do an LS1 or LS2 with the modern GTO fuel rail covers to play into the idea of the car.

hobbygto65 09-13-2019 05:23 PM

Hard to say if it's a real GTO, 5N trim tag but wrong rivets on the vin tag.

242177P 09-13-2019 07:02 PM

I suspect the person that came up with this car's theme probably spent a lot of time saying "pew, pew, pew, pew". Seems to be a cross between Pro Tour and Rat Rod? That SBC would look natural in something from the 50s, or earlier. A warbird theme on a budget build, or a more modern fighter theme on a blank check build. Better yet, a build without a theme. Just have to pick one style and stick with it. This build is all over the map.

As reasonably priced "wall art", I'd like one (just the logo though)

I agree. What a shame. I actually think 40K is tops.
