MR1-500ci going into a '76 corvette

Building my next race car and am doing something different. I bought a really junk Vette and decided it was cheaper to put it on the race track that the street. I am in the process of putting a 9" ford rear and a MR1 500 inch engine in it. Here are a few pictures of my slow progress so far. Gantry was supplied by Harbor Freight and body dolly was bought from Summit, both needed to remove the body.

WOW
that looks like a fun project |
Awesome!
Keep us informed. :) |
Many of those C3s are decent priced projects. I'm guessing a beefier rear than the 10 bolt?? Tom's Differentials used to have a converted 12 bolt carrier to bolt in. A guy I know in one of the 10.5 tire classes has one in his.

Way cool. Can't think of a better "different type" of a car to put a Pontiac engine in. I think the one and only engine choice that year was a 8.5:1 Chevy 350. Likely 180HP. Big Whoop!
Can't wait to see some Corvette purist having a hissy fit over you ruining a Corvette..LOL... |
Didn't Ken "Ace" Brewer build a Pontiac powered C3 for his dad?
Cool build! Aiming for 9's, or faster? |
Very cool!!!

Love it! Are those A-body headers? Hard to see what ground clearance you're getting.
If you were closer I'd test fit my Pontiac side pipes I have on the wall. |

I always thought cheap C3's would make a good drag car start. Looking good thanks for posting.
