64 Rear Trailing arm upgrade

Looking to upgrade the rear trailing arms, or rear control arms. Have already got adjustable uppers so just need lowers with sway bar provision. Anybody got any preference as to what brands to go with. So many out there with lots of range in price. Kinda looking at Global west or similar.

Just a street car with 500hp 4spd.

UMI Performance with Roto-Joints. Very high quality product, made in U.S., good company, and reasonable pricing.

Does the roto joint create any extra vibration?

I have the UMI rears with the poly bushing on the frame end and the roto joint on the rear, they are great no more vibration than before, bought from summit racing and shipped to my door (free shipping over 299 US) only extra charge was the usual Canadian Taxes. These are the ones I have installed currently back ordered https://www.summitracing.com/parts/UPI-4041-B

Ok Thanks. Do you ever make it out to the Old Sears Mall meets? Was out there on Wed.

I do get out to the sears meet once in awhile when I'm not working(shift work) hopefully the weather holds for awhile longer to get some more miles on the car this year

Kinda funny how we meet people on websites to find out they live close by. I'm in Duncan.
Have found a few guys from the island, Port Mcneil and a firebird guy that is local to me.

Spohn Del Sphere. Excellent craftsmanship! With excellent prices. There a small father and son outfit. There parts are very well made.

You really dont need a rear sway bar. Get yourself the big Hellwig front bar. Thats all thats needed. Then get four veritable poly frame bumpers. Mount them one inch from the frame. They really work well. Herb Adams knew his stuff..

Not quite sure who's item you have, can't find any info on them. Do you have a link?

I would suggest also getting the braces that tie the upper/lower frame arm mounts together. There's factory type and after market. They bolt in with arm bolts.

Those have been in there since I put it together, but thanks for the input.

The good ones don't seem to have provision for rear sway bar?

The Champ 11-24-2022 11:51 AM

I have BMR lower control arms and have a factory rear sway bar on my '64.

My UMI lowers have provisions for a rear sway bar. Also, I recommend tubular control arms rather than square/box control arms. The tubular control arms will flex less.

One would think the boxed ones would be better than the smaller round ones?
The cost is more for the boxed ones, also listed is the Premium boxed with grease zerks.
was looking at the ones with rotojiont on one end, but boxed. 4041 I believe.

When I had my 1977 Can Am, I boxed my arms with 1/8" steel plate and put in some better bushings. That worked really well. The Can Am already had a rear stabilizer bar. It handled very well and did not have wheel hop after the boxing of the arms.

Lemans64 11-28-2022 11:24 AM

Already have Stock type rear arms that have been boxed, looking for something a little better.

The UMI Arms(4041) I mentioned before are on sale at Summit now for 385.00 Canadian but not available until January, get the order up to $299 usd and its free fedex shipping. I've had both tubular and boxed from UMI and ran stock boxed as well and can honestly say never had any noticeable deflection or any other issues with any type. The roto joints are nice as they will prevent any binding in the bushing point and do not ride harsh can be rebuilt if needed I have them in my upper rear and lowers. If you are ever in the Nanaimo area you could come have a look at mine before purchasing also just sent me a message.
